My journey toward becoming a chiropractor started long before I ever knew what chiropractic was. My mother has told me for years that I knew I wanted to become a doctor when I was only three years old. Growing up, I spent much of my childhood in and out of doctors' offices because of asthma and recurring pneumonia, so healthcare was always a familiar part of my life. For as long as I can remember, I wanted to find a way to help other. I initially imagined becoming a pediatrician, but while exploring different paths in healthcare, I became increasingly interested in approaches that focused not only on managing symptoms, but on helping people improve their overall health and function. That became personal when I watched my mother struggle with debilitating back pain. I remember seeing her come home from work in tears, exhausted from muscle spasms and simply hoping the pain would stop. Eventually, she sought care from a chiropractor, and I watched her regain not only her ability to function, but her enjoyment of life. Seeing that transformation changed the direction of my life. The more I learned about chiropractic, the more I realized I had found the profession I was looking for. I wanted to help people restore function, improve their quality of life, and better understand their own health. After earning my Doctor of Chiropractic degree from Cleveland University–Kansas City, I spent the next several years practicing in Oklahoma. Those years gave me invaluable clinical experience, but more importantly, they taught me that some of the most important parts of being a doctor are listening, earning trust, and treating every patient as an individual. Eventually, I knew I wanted to build a practice of my own—one where I could bring those lessons together and create the kind of patient experience I believe healthcare should provide. When my wife received a job at UCM, I saw an opportunity to do just that. Growing up in a small town taught me the importance of knowing your neighbors, investing in your community, and building relationships that last. I want to bring those same values to Amberstone Chiropractic. My hope is that Amberstone becomes more than a place where people receive chiropractic care. I want it to be a place where patients feel heard, families feel welcomed, and healthcare is built on trust, education, and genuine relationships. That is the foundation on which I am building Amberstone.
